Working with the Kamera &
Gilles crew on our new home was beyond a doubt one of the most collaborative,
innovative and engaging of experiences. From the framing crew to finish
carpenters, the highly capable subcontractors and the vendors, everyone who
worked on the house always had the success of our home in their sights. We
worked closely with the day to day crew who clearly enjoyed their work and the
creative problem-solving. Our ideas were welcomed; our input was always
considered and acknowledged; they listened to us and made us, the clients
active participants in delightful solutions. The process was magic and so too
is the result; our house which radiates the love and attention and all the
detail that makes it our home.

“Satisfied Customer” does not
begin to describe our experience with Kamera & Gilles. If you want a
project done with fully engaged artisans who understand the value of a full
day’s work and what it means to have something done right, then you should
investigate hiring this team of professional builders. You will enjoy working
with them through all of the highs and lows of construction, and when all of
the noise stops, they are our neighbors and stand by their work.

The experience building our
contemporary house with Greg Gilles and Dennis Kamera was wonderful. They
brought their experience, good nature, and best of all, a great group of
carpenters and subcontractors. The new construction involved wood framing,
steel trusses, exposed I-beams and the challenges of pulling it all together
with beautiful finish work. The end result: an enjoyable process and a
beautiful home.

Dennis, Greg and their team
transform complex plans into beautifully crafted homes. They provide superior
customer service, not only during the build phase, but beyond. You will find
that over time they transform from builder to friends. I feel very fortunate to
know them.

Dennis and Greg gave me a house
I could never have imagined for myself. They knew what details mattered and
were gently able to cajole me out of concerns that didn’t. Building a house
with them was like having a teacher who helps a student create the best they
can. Years have past since I built my house and it remains a place of beauty and
quality – a classic home in a modern world.

Working with Dennis and Greg
and their entire crew was the best construction experience I have had in my 30+
year career in the real estate development business. Prior to working with
Kamera & Gilles, I had not experienced the level of positive collaborative
effort that was demonstrated daily by each of the employees and subcontractors
that worked to build our house. The quality of the workmanship and pride that
everyone took in their trade is truly unique. Kamera & Gilles exemplify
integrity and craftsmanship.

Kamera & Gilles Carpentry
built our home in 2002-3. It involved a residence and an artist’s studio. The
two buildings were completed on schedule in 14 months and on budget. The
quality of workmanship was outstanding and a credit to their management and
talents of their crew. In addition, they managed subcontractors and suppliers
that were new to them as a result of unique materials chosen by us, all of
which went well. We would without hesitation recommend Dennis and Greg to
anyone building on Whidbey Island and have already done so on several
occasions.

We could not be more pleased
with the entire Kamera and Gilles team for the wonderful job they did building
our new house. We absolutely love it! Not only did the quality of construction
exceed our expectations, but we very much appreciated the proactive ideas, cost
conscious recommendations, and overall collaborative and low-stress approach.
This is the third house we have built “remotely”, and by far it was the best
and most professional experience.

The house was complicated:
building over an older foundation on the bluff, 3 energy systems including
solar and wood boiler, and working with a site that aesthetically needed to be
harmonized with a 100 year old homestead. I am artist with love of minimalism,
pure lines, and industrial materials used in efficient and beautiful ways. My
husband loves mechanical efficiency, off-grid solutions and digital access to
everything! The house to please me needed to be pared down to minimal lines,
steel, wood, and stone. Kamera and Gilles rose to the occasion helping us make
one decision after another. When making choices or looking at engineering
problems, they had the subcontractors and experience. Local craftsman offered
unique and exquisite use of materials. I was hesitant about selecting a
contractor from the Island but their range of solutions was sophisticated and
state of the art. In addition, we contracted Kamera and Gilles to put in a
cement large circulating water feature and to do the site landscaping directed
by landscape designer in Seattle after the house was completed. Our landscape
architect commented that they did the detailing with better finishing than he
had seen on any other job. The house took a long time because of our
constraints and hesitations, and Kamera and Gilles supported us each step of
the way.

Selecting Kamera & Gilles
for our project was straightforward. A tour of any prior project speaks volumes
for their résumé. Visiting more than one project will eliminate any
preconception they might be limited to building in any one style. Even to the
casual observer it will be obvious that their quality and attention to detail
transcend architectural styles.
Working through the building process with their talented team was an
inspiration. Every new challenge was met with creative ideas and solutions.
Each facet of the project was executed with a conscientious aim for excellence.
The team's expertise imparts a sense of true craftsmanship not found in many
homes today.
Our finished project is as unique as all of its details. Every feature was
skillfully completed, no matter how unusual. The end result is a comfortable
home to live in and appreciate every day.
